8 Easy Methods to Fix YouTube Black Screen Error:

If you are looking for more than one solution to fix the YouTube screen black issue, then we present you with not 2 or 3 but 8 easy ways that you can apply to fix it.

Solution 1: Log Out from your YouTube Account

For many users, this solution has worked out as it could merely be related to a bug that is coinciding with the YouTube Account. You can simply try logging out of the YouTube Account by following the ways described here:

Go to the YouTube page or the application and click on the “Account” icon. Then go to the option called “Sign Out”. Once you’re signed out of the account, sign in back to the account and try streaming a video. Check if you face the same YouTube no video issue or not. Go to the next solution if you find that YouTube video not showing.

Solution 2: Page Refresh/ Re-Open the Web Browser

If there are any minor issues with the web browser you are using, then most likely YouTube will be impacted by the black screen error. If YouTube video is black, consider refreshing the page in the following way:

At the top section of the web browser right beside the address bar,  there is an option to reload. Click on the icon of it to refresh the current web page or simply use the F5 key on the keyboard.

If the issue remains, you can exit the browser and re-open it. Choose the “Restore Tabs” option to get the tab back.

Solution 3: Check Network Connectivity Status

This error might occur due to the fact that your network connection may be faulty. For that, you can try the following things:

1. Get VPN

It could be that your Internet Service Provider has some issues with the video or simply has blocked it. Using a VPN can help you resolve the problem. You can get a VPN from any verified website and install it.

Once you’ve installed it, run the program and choose a preferred server location. Then continue to access the video from a remote location. If the video plays, then great. If not, move on to the next step.

2. Check the Usage of the Internet

If you are using the internet connection from more than one or two devices, then it is likely that the YouTube application won’t be able to get enough connection, especially if the video is a high-quality video.

For that, remove connections from other devices to prevent the current browser from slowing down.

3. Check the Internet Connection

Oftentimes, the ISP (Internet Service Provider) could simply take the server offline for maintenance. In that case, you won’t receive an Internet Connection at all or might be not a stable flow of it at least. Reset the router by switching it on and off. If your YouTube application still decides to show a black screen, follow the next solution.

Solution 4: Flush Out Browsing Data

As YouTube stores cache data as well as browsing data, it might be a reason for the black screen error. Thus, if you are using Firefox or Google Chrome browser, then you can flush out the browsing data as well as a cache:

First, open a web browser and open “Clear Browsing Data” using the “Shift”, “Delete” and the “Ctrl” key. You will be redirected to a new window where you can set a time from where you’d like to flush out the browsing data.

Once you’ve selected that, click on the “Clear Browsing Data” option. Then a box called “Clear All History” will open. From there, click on the “Clear Now” option.

After that, re-open the browser and open YouTube to stream the desired video. Follow the next solution if still YouTube videos are black.

Solution 5: Turn Off Browsing Extension

Even though browser extensions play a different role, they can affect the black screen YouTube error. You can disable them for a while.

For Google Chrome

First, open Google Chrome and then type the following address on the address bar:

“chrome://extensions”

Now hit the “Enter” button and then you’ll be redirected to the “Extensions” box. Now whatever extensions you have installed on the browser, disable them by unticking the “Enabled” box.

For Mozilla Firefox

Open the Mozilla Firefox browser and then go to the top-right menu section. From there, click on the option called “Add-Ons”. From the Add-Ons section, click on the option called “Disabled” for all the extensions installed.

Now, try streaming a video on YouTube to check if it has helped in resolving the issue or not.

Solution 6: Turn Off Hardware Acceleration

While hardware acceleration enhances the performance of the system and the web browser, it can have drawbacks and cause issues, such as the YouTube black screen error. In that case, you might want to consider turning it off. For that, you have to perform the steps cited below.

Open a web browser and go to the menu of the browser in the top right section. Then scroll down to the third last option menu which is “Settings”. Then go to the bottom section and click on the option called “Show Advanced Settings”.

Now go to the “System” section and simply untick the box that says use hardware acceleration. After that, close the browser and re-open it. Then go to YouTube and check if you still face the black screen error or not.

Solution 7: Upgrade Web Browser

It is needless to say that if you are using an old version of the web browser, then most likely YouTube will have conflicts in streaming videos for you. If it’s an old browser, then it would be using Adobe Flash Player plug-in. YouTube no longer supports that.

That might be a reason for the black screen issue. For that, you have to update the browser to its latest version in the following way:

First, uninstall the web browser. Then go to the official website of the browser and get the updated version of the browser. Download it and then install it on the system.

Solution 8: Use Another Web Browser

This is the last option that you can try. Often times the browser that you are using may simply be not compatible with the interface of YouTube due to certain configurations or the Flash players. For that, you need to check using a different browser.

Simply go to a different web browser and then visit the YouTube website. After that, try streaming a video. If you don’t encounter a black screen error, then be aware that the previous browser is the main culprit.

However, if none of the aforementioned solutions have worked out so far, then you can get in touch with the browser support team. Tell them briefly about the problem and ask them to help you out with it.
